How We Research
CompareSmartDevice publishes spec-verified comparisons. Every important number on this site is linked to its source with a checked date — manufacturer documentation is preferred, and the evidence quality behind each claim is shown explicitly. If we cannot verify a fact, we do not publish it.
Our sources
- Official manufacturer manuals and specification sheets
- Manufacturer product pages
- Amazon catalog data via the Amazon Creators API
- Published standards where applicable (safety, noise, energy)
Our process
- Discover: catalog candidates are collected from Amazon search and brand lineups.
- Extract: specifications are extracted from primary-source text, keyed, and stored as claims — one claim per fact.
- Evidence: each claim is linked to the source that supports it, with an evidence type and checked date.
- Conflicts: when sources disagree, the conflict is recorded and surfaced rather than silently resolved.
- Score: a deterministic scoring model compares sourced values criterion by criterion. Unknown values are excluded from the comparison for every product in the set — they never count as a performance zero — and data completeness is reported separately.
- Publish gate: articles pass automated quality gates (facts, disclosure, link integrity) before publication.
What we will not do
- No hands-on performance claims unless the device was purchased and tested under a published methodology.
- No price tracking or price alerts (prohibited for Associates sites without a written agreement with Amazon).
- No paraphrasing other review sites as if it were research.
